About the PMO
Formed in 2018, the Providence Medical orchestra is an ensemble of medical, graduate, and undergraduate students; Brown University faculty, staff, and alumni; and physicians and members of the broader biomedical community in Providence, RI.
Our mission is to both give members of the biomedical community an opportunity to play music together and to bring classical music to the university and the general public.
If you would like to join our ranks, please complete form linked below. Musicians of all levels are invited! We welcome all instruments, but are particularly seeking strings, and especially violists, cellists, and bass players.

The start of something special
Founding of a Medical Orchestra
Want to learn more about our orchestra? Listen here! Below is a podcast made by Amador Delamerced (Alpert Medical School Class of 2022) that is part of his Firsts series that focuses on first time medical experiences. He worked with us help to generate an episode on the founding of the PMO which also discusses the important connections between music and medicine and why we do what we do.
